  हरहुन्नरी व्यक्ती P L deshpande ताळेबंदी आहे , त्यामुळे   घरी रहा सुरक्षित रहा   या तत्वाचे पालन करत काय करायचे तर घरात असलेली पुस्तके वाचायला सुरुवात केली. मग हातात घेतल ते अनेक प्रांतात स्व‍च्छंद संचार करणाऱ्या पु. ल. देशपांडे यांचे  ‘ मैत्र ’  हे पुस्तक. या मध्ये पु. लं. च्या पूर्व प्रकाशित निवडक लेखांचा संग्रह आहे.   या पुस्तकातील लेख फार उत्तम आहेत. मग ते ‘हमीद : एक श्रेष्ठ प्रबोधनकार’ असो की ‘सखे-सोबती गेले पुढती’ असो   वा इतर. या पुस्तकातील सर्व व्यक्तिरेखा ह्या अत्यंत उत्तम रीतीने मांडल्या असून या व्यक्तिरेखांची स्वभाववैशिष्ट्ये ,  गुण ,  त्यांच्या कलेची महती ,  कामावरील- साहित्य-कलेवरील श्रद्धा यांचा वेधही पुलंनी घेतला आहे.   ह्या मध्ये ‘शाहू महाराज : एक धिप्पाड माणूस’ हा लेख मला   विशेष आवडला. या लेखातील वर्णन आजही तितकेच तंतोतंत लागू पडते. शाहू महाराज हे आदर्श राजा तर होते पण व्यक्ति म्हणून त्यांचे मोठेपण यातून मला कळले.         एक आदर्श राजा कसा असावा हे छत्रपती शाहू महाराज ,...
